Hello and welcome!
I’m delighted you’ve found your way here to Oak & Oolite, a land-inspired blog – a place where time, taste, and connection come together.
Here, I share posts that aim to encourage connection to land, the past, food and shared human experience, helping us remember what truly matters. It is a place to pause, notice, and wonder. Topics vary and include heritage highlights, planned experiences, stories for children, and recipes from both past and present.
Oak & Oolite began with a simple idea: to reconnect with what is important. To connect with the land, nature, heritage, flavour, and one another. I hope this blog becomes a small corner of the world where connection is noticed, created, and celebrated.
A note on sources: I make every effort to research the topics I write about. However, some subjects fall outside my formal field, and not all information may be complete or fully accurate. While I aim to present reliable material and include links to peer-reviewed sources and research papers where possible, the blog is a space for exploration and learning, and readers should treat it as informed discussion rather than definitive authority. If you notice anything that needs refining, or have sources to add, I’m always glad to learn more.
Some images on this blog are sourced from others, and I include links to their work to give full credit. Over time, I aim to use more of my own photography, to reflect the stories, places, and flavours I write about.
Thank you for stopping by and having an aul’ read! You are more than welcome to join the journey.
Mary
