If you’d like some fresh air and a peaceful stroll on Christmas Day, join me at 11:00 am at the Castletown gates – the slip entrance (the closest eircode is W23 TD37).
A chance to enjoy the outdoors, the land, and a moment of calm with some company on Christmas morning.
All are welcome. Please dress for the weather and for easy parkland walking. There is nearby paid parking in the village if needed.
Christmas Day Update
I went on the Christmas Day walk this morning. I arrived at the gates and waited for a few minutes. I was curious to see if Oak & Oolite had made any public impact, though I was not really expecting anything.
Nobody else turned up, but I do not see that as a bad thing. Community has to start with yourself, and with making the effort.

It was a lovely cold, crisp, sunny stroll (although the pictures do not quite capture it). Lots of people were out walking their dogs, and children were on new bikes and trikes after their visit from Santy. I enjoyed the walk along the river and the simple joy of Christmas morning, bidding people a friendly hello and Merry Christmas.
Maybe next time more people will join for a walk. Anyway, I am off to start the dinner. Enjoy the turkey, or nut roast, or whatever you’re having. Happy Christmas!
