January Walk – Maynooth, Co. Kildare

Happy New Year, everyone!

January, what a month eh. If you enjoy the crisp chill air and fancy an uplifting (hopefully snowy) stroll on the 24th of January, join me at 11:00 am at the gates to Carton Avenue, across the road from the Ely Wine Store (W23 C9V9).

A chance to enjoy the outdoors, the land, and a moment of calm with some company.

All are welcome. Please dress for the weather and for easy paved walking. There is nearby parking at the Costa/ Tesco complex.

Saturday 24.01.26 Update

Well, it didn’t snow. It rained – although not too much. Even though it was just me again this month, I went for the walk anyway.

There were quite a few people along the avenue, all far better prepared for the weather than I was! I walked up to the end of the avenue, crossed the Dunboyne Road, and decided it was too wet and dank to walk as far as Carton House1, as planned.

But, on the drive home, weirdly enough, I decided that I deserved to see the lovely Georgian house anyway!

  1. Although Carton House now functions as a hotel, the grounds of the house are open to the public for walking. However unlikely, be mindful of the golf course, as stray balls could pose a hazard. ↩︎
