Happy Christmas!

Happy Christmas, no-one!1

I am about to set out for the Christmas Day Walk. I am not imagining anyone will turn up – I know it is early days but the walk will happen anyway. I will update later.

Afternoon Update

Christmas morning on the bank of the River Liffey at Castletown, Celbridge

Yes, I went on the Christmas Day walk this morning. I arrived at the gates and waited for a few minutes. I was curious to see if Oak & Oolite had made any public impact, though I was not really expecting anything.

Nobody else turned up, but I do not see that as a bad thing. Community has to start with yourself, and with making the effort.

It was a lovely cold, crisp, sunny stroll (although the pictures do not quite capture it). Lots of people were out walking their dogs, and children were on new bikes and trikes after their visit from Santy. I enjoyed the walk along the river and the simple joy of Christmas morning, bidding people a friendly hello and Merry Christmas.

Spot the holly!

Maybe next time more people will join for a walk. Anyway, I am off to start the dinner. Enjoy the turkey, or nut roast, or whatever you’re having. Happy Christmas!
